Brunton House and Holiday Cottages, Northumberland : Feedback
Guest feedback from Brunton Burn
Had a wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating time at a perfect spot in a perfect cottage.
Wow! As soon as we walked into this beautiful cottage we said to each other 'We could live here'! A real home from home with a stunning view.
Many thanks to all who make returning to Brunton Burn such a pleasure: Mark and Lucia (owners), Mick Holland (an outstanding chef) as well as Hayley and her daughter, Jade, who prepare the cottages so perfectly.
Brunton Burn was recommended by friendsand we have had a great holiday. So much so that we have rebooked before leaving!
This is an excellent base for visiting the coastal footpaths, places of interest and for venturing inland.
It's been a joy to stay in this outstanding property, with its simply wonderful outlook.
Our second stay - and once again we have had the most wonderful week.
Love being lulled to sleep by the noise of the burn.
Just the perfect place for a break.
After nearly sixty years we've found the perfect holiday cottage.
5 * LUXURY! What a brilliant job you have done here. The cottage is perfectly fitted out - we even used the deck of cards.
Have now stayed in both cottages. Both spotless. We love the welcome pack and Mick's cooking is fab. So lovely to be able to order fresh food delivered hot to the cottage.
Cottage is lovely and cosy and the night sky is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Northumberland. I am a long way from the sunshine of Los Angeles but your hospitality and the warmth of your welcome has made it feel just as sunny as home!
After a long drive, it was perfect - warm and cosy, comfortable, spacious and clean. Mick cooked us a delicious meal too. Already planning our return.
Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Food made and delivered by Mick was amazing.
Absolutely delighted to have made it back to Brunton Burn. As soon as we opened the front door, we realised why we were so anxious to return - the standard of accommodation is just first class.
We can only reiterate all the previous comments as regards the presentation of the property, facilities, equipment and location. As with others we would like to return at a future date and have no hesitation in recommending Brunton Burn to others.
We have never had such a fabulous week - our first to Northumberland. Brunton Burn is a delightful place to stay - we loved all the thoughtful touches. A massive thank you to Mick.
In 36 years of returning to England, self-catering and exploring, Brunton Burn is without doubt the nicest of all places we have stayed in and the only one we would consider returning to.
Our fourth visit to Brunton and once again it has been fantastic. The cottage just cannot be faulted. Many thanks to Mark and Lucia for providing such a wonderful place and also to all the others who help to maintain it and keep it spotlessly clean.
This was the most peaceful, relaxing week we have ever had! Perfect weather, wonderful food (thanks Mick), almost deserted beaches pretending to be watercolours. Brunton is top of our bucket list!
As we anticipated we fell completely in love as soon as we arrived. Just love it here. Enjoyed Mick's food, walked around the estate and most of the beaches. A week to remember.
The walks around Brunton estate were very picturesque and peaceful. The cottage was all we expected and more. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. 'Home from home' is how it felt.
Super stay, everything one could possibly want. Outstanding views and walks. Mick's food superb - worth treating yourself.
Definitely one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Enjoyed delicious meals from Mick and the generous provisions on arrival were most welcome. Our friends were asking 'Why go to Northumberland in February, you will freeze!" but we have had glorious, sunny days and Brunton Burn was warm and cosy after some great days out. Thank you Mark and Lucia, Mick and the housekeeper who made it spotless.
Does it get much better?
Another lovely stay, looking forward to our summer break here! Mick's cooking as always delicious. Thank you.
We can only repeat what others have said. What a wonderful place to stay, equalling the very best hotels we have stayed in although none of the others have had the breathtaking view! Mick's food is fantastic and encouraged us to be lazy and do no cooking. Brunton Burn has been so comfortable that we have spent as much time relaxing in it as we have out and about. We will of course return."
We had a wonderful weekend staying at Brunton Burn. Gazing out of the window to the burn and waterfall was lovely.
As soon as we walked in the door we were relaxed. We stay in many 5*, self catering, properties and this is definitely up there with the best. Better than 2 weeks in the sun!
"It's all been said in the Visitors' Book, and it is all true - gorgeous cottage, 'home from home', well equipped, stylish and peaceful."
"In every respect it met, or exceeded, our expectations - impeccably clean, thoughtfully furnished, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable."
"We fully endorse the recommendations for Mick the chef - our steak pie and sticky toffee pudding were absolutely outstanding/"
"We were in a large family group of 18 - the others were in Brunton House, which is also wonderful, but this was a lovely refuge to return to."
"It would be difficult to find anything to compare with this in terms of view and standard of cottage."
"It would be very difficult to think of any ways to improve the accommodation, which was absolutely first class."

"A real home from home, enjoyed walking around the estate, saw plenty of hares, deer and a lovely kingfisher on the burn. We had several meals cooked by Mick and can thoroughly recommend him. fish pie was superb but lobster on our last night (if possible) was better - 5 star food."

"This is by far the best cottaege we have ever stayed at and is like someone's personal holiday home that we have been allowed to rent. It was a privilege staying here. The cottage in every aspect has exceeded our expectations. We have loved the panorama of the burn, enjoyed each evening here in the peace & tranquility. The design & layout is perfect and the exquisite taste of the decor I am constantly appreciating. It is difficult to put into words how much we have enjoyed it here."
Stephenson, Essex - July 2013
"We have stayed in other self catering cottages around the country and must say that this is the best! We appreciated how well equipped it was for cooking also how spacious it was for a one bedroom cottage. It was a pleasure coming back in the evenings."

"This was a sublime experience in a peaceful & stylish cottage. The surrounding attractions were all wonderful, but it was also nice to spend time watching the waterfalls in the burn. Be sure to have plenty of Mick's dishes...the meals were wonderful."

"When I read about it on the website I thought it would be good&..I just didn't realise how good! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our week and wished it had been longer. I cannot think of anything we wanted that wasn't provided. Mick Holland is a great asset and we thoroughly enjoyed his cooking on two occasions."

" I really enjoyed my stay at Brunton Burn cottage - I just loved everything about it. The accommodation was fantastic - it was really tastefully furnished and I loved that it was so peaceful. Mick the chef prepared a lovely meal for me. It was good having the box with so much information on local places of interest and also the folder giving information/instructions for the cottage was very helpful and easy to find what you were looking for. It gave me the break I needed and can't wait to go back (have already told my friends its a place they must go to!!).

"A very welcome break in this very stylish cottage, we would not change a thing! Weather wild & windy, deserted beaches & a lovely retreat to come back to, perfect."

"Have enjoyed our stay here very much. The cottage is wonderful, with all 'mod cons', very warm and comfortable with a lovely view over the burn and fields. Plenty of wildlife too, even say an otter complete with a fish in its mouth. Rounded off our holiday with an excellent 3 course meal prepared by Mick, great value. We will definitly be 'eating in' more often next time."
